Irish Business Permission

If you are a non-EEA National who intends to come to Ireland in order to establish a business, you will require a Business Permission.

Under this permit, you must create employment (other than your own) and show personal investment of €300,000 or more. This is a very specific scheme and there are no exemptions to the €300,000 minimum investment requirement, unless you are a well-known artist, writer or a crafts person. If you would like to invest in Ireland, however you do not have the required funds for the Business permission, you may also consider the Irish Start-up Entrepreneur Programme.

The Business permission is granted for an initial period of 12 months. You will be issued a letter granting you permission to engage in business within these 12 months.

If you would like to renew your business permission, it is advisable that you lodge your application 1-2 months prior to the expiry date of your existing permit. If your application for extension is approved you will be allowed to stay for further 12 months.
